With: Cathy Anderson, Production and Compliance Programs Chief for the USDA Nebraska FSA Jessi Remmers, Nebraska FSA Program Specialist; and Brad Lubben, Extension Policy Specialist from UNL.
With a new year, agricultural producers and professionals face new farm program decisions and directions under the Agriculture Risk Coverage and Price Loss Coverage (ARC/PLC) programs through USDA Farm Service Agency. This webinar will provide an update on farm programs and other relevant programs, such as the Non-insured Crop Disaster Assistance Program and Dairy Margin Coverage Program, and assistance for producers. The webinar will highlight the details and decisions ahead for 2022 and also discuss the path ahead for farm programs as initial ideas and plans begin to surface for the next farm bill due in 2023.
Anderson will discuss farm program decisions for 2022 under the Agriculture Risk Coverage and Price Loss Coverage (ARC/PLC) commodity crop safety net, as well as review pandemic program assistance through Nebraska FSA. County FSA offices currently are taking ARC/PLC election and enrollment applications.
Remmers will discuss the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP). NAP can be valuable to producers of non-insurable crops, protecting against losses due to natural disasters, but producers must apply for coverage ahead of an upcoming application deadline. Remmers also will briefly review the Dairy Margin Coverage program, which also has an upcoming application deadline.
Lubben will discuss the path ahead for farm programs as policy discussions begin for the next farm bill due in 2023.
