Jeff Peterson, assistant professor of practice in agricultural economics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, explains what the discoloration showing up in soybean samples across much of Nebraska means for export and crush demand, and why it's weighing on basis heading into and beyond harvest. He also walks through what the September quarterly stocks report and the October WASDE changed in the corn and soybean balance sheets, how the stocks-to-use ratio sets a fair value for both crops, where export and ethanol demand stands, and the marketing plan adjustments worth making on hedge-to-arrive contracts, basis contracts and delayed pricing, before closing with a look at the December corn and November soybean charts.
