Crop insurance agents, agricultural lenders and producers can hear directly from USDA’s Risk Management Agency and get a read on markets, trade and weather at Nebraska Extension's 2026 Crop Insurance Workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 4 at the BigIron Events Center, 690 E. Stolley Park Road in Grand Island. Registration and coffee begin at 8 a.m.

The program is built for the people who advise farmers and ranchers on risk, including crop insurance agents, lenders, commodity brokers, professional farm managers, crop consultants, grain merchandisers and financial advisers. Producers who want to apply the same information to their own operations are welcome.

Two Risk Management Agency officials are on the agenda. Collin Olsen, director of the agency’s Topeka regional office, will deliver the RMA update, and Ken Selzer, associate administrator of RMA, closes the day with the keynote.

Cory Walters, professor of agricultural economics at Nebraska, will cover the market outlook. Lia Nogueira, associate professor of agricultural economics at UNL, will discuss trade and tariffs. Don Day Jr., president and meteorologist at DayWeather Inc., will walk through current climate trends. William Meade of CropBot.Ai will open the morning with a session on artificial intelligence.

Continuing education credits have been applied for in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota.

Registration is $115 and rises to $130 five days before the workshop. Cancellations five days out qualify for a 50% refund. Register here or call 402-472-4923. Details and the full agenda are at cropinsure.unl.edu.
