A free webinar, "Fill Your Freezer: Purchasing Local Meat in Bulk," will highlight considerations for consumers and how they can make more informed decisions when purchasing beef, pork or poultry in bulk from local producers.

It will be held at 7:30 p.m. Central time on Oct. 30, and is presented by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Center for Agricultural Profitability and the university's meat science program.

Topics will include understanding meat pricing and common labeling terms, as well as estimating how much meat a consumer will receive when buying in bulk. The webinar aims to help consumers get a handle on the process of purchasing local meat and make the best decisions for their families as they stock up their freezers while supporting local producers.

Presenters include Elliott Dennis, an associate profressor of agricultural economics and livestock economist, and Gary Sullivan, an associate professor of meat science.
